Co-owner John Hilsher is a champion for in-home care in Austin.  His passion and mastery of customer service has reached the guru level.  His extensive collection of tools and 1970's era home secured his position as the staff handyman as well.  Away from work he can be found playing a never ending game of tug-of-war with his dogs and is anxiously awaiting his first child with his lovely wife.

Caregiving is a true labor of love.

I have a wonderful excuse for not keeping up with my blog this time.  I recently became the father of a sweet little girl who is cuter than the Gerber baby. This new addition to my life has confirmed to me that caregiving is an exhausting full time job.  However, I am happy to do it for so many reasons.

Caring for seniors, is the same in many ways.  When family members need our help we do what is needed and seldom think of our own sacrifice.  Husbands care for wives, wives care for husbands and children care for their parents just as a parent cares for a newborn child.  The natural cycle of life is a bell curve which has us depending on the compassion of others to care for our needs at both the beginning and the end of life.

As good as our intentions may be, sometimes professional help is necessary.  For aging parents, a long term care plan may include receiving care at home.  The services our In-home care agency provides can help a husband and wife remain in their home together or provide companionship and care for a family member who is living alone.

I have had the privilege to work with so many wonderful caregivers, both men and women.  They have all chosen this field of work because they enjoy the satisfaction they feel when helping others.

If you or someone you know is starting to struggle with tasks of everyday living, start having a discussion with them now about their long term care options here in Austin.  Don’t wait until there is an emergency and you are forced to do something.  Give us a call and let’s set up a time to meet each other, share a cup of coffee and discuss your plans and concerns.
